City to delay shelter house, canopies, and park restroom opening

We all recognize the important role City Parks play in the daily life of citizens and visitors in the City of Port Clinton.  These spaces offer a wide range of experiences that may be undertaken in the age of social distancing and group gathering limitations.  The City Administration encourages everyone to continue to explore these opportunities.  However, with the Governor of the State of Ohio issuing Social Distancing Order and Group Gathering Count of ten or fewer, the City must enforce uses of these spaces that confirm to Social Distancing and Group Gathering Count Orders.

Balancing use and maintaining public health is paramount to preventing another surge.  In accordance with these new perimeters, effective immediately, all City of Port Clinton shelter house / canopy rentals will be suspended until such time as the Governor’s Orders are amended or removed.  Groups that have reservations on file with the City may request a refund and cancellation of these reservations by contacting City Hall at 419-734-5522 x 2.  Such a request will open any reserved space to others should the Governor’s orders be amended or lifted.  Refunds will automatically be offered should the date of the scheduled event pass without the Governor’s amending of or removal of said distancing and gathering orders.

Additionally, all park restroom facilities will remain closed for the duration of the declared COVID-19 Statewide State of Emergency.

Playgrounds throughout the City will also remain closed until the Governor for the State of Ohio suspends said action implemented in association with the COVID-19 State of Emergency.

Furthermore, all organized community functions, including but not limited to the Walleye Festival, 4th of July Celebration, Arts in the Park, Art Walk, Rock The Light Music Festival, Lighthouse Festival, etc., which take place in public spaces will be suspended for the duration of said Distancing and Headcount Orders.

We all recognize the impact these actions may have on your life and the lives of your loved ones.  We all hope for a speedy resolution to the COVID-19 issue and continue to keep our thoughts with all of those negatively impacted by this virus.
