Peddlers, door -to-door salesperson

Port Clinton City Hall has resumed issuing permits to peddlers (commonly known as door-to-

door salespeople) with the passage of Ordinance 30-22 on October 25, 2022.

The permit application process, administered by the Auditor’s Office, includes a thorough

criminal background check, fees, and registration with the Tax Department, among other steps.

Residents have every right to demand a permit be presented when approached by a door-to-

door salesperson.  Even with a permit, a peddler can be refused entry.

A permit holder is not an agent of the City of Port Clinton.  No city official or staff will ever

present a permit and demand entry to a home (e.g., for inspection).  Be smart.  Port Clinton

Police Department is charged with enforcement.

Permit application is available online: https://www.portclinton.com/auditor/
