Notice of Civil Service Examination – Police Officer for the City of Port Clinton

The selection process consists of a written examination, and oral interview and a physical fitness test. The written examination will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 9:00 A.M. at the Port Clinton Senior Center, 320 East Second Street, Port Clinton, Ohio. Applicants must show an Ohio driver’s license to gain admittance to the examination.

Police Officer: The Port Clinton Civil Service Commission is announcing open competitive examinations for the position of Police Officer in the service of the City of Port Clinton.

Applications:  must be picked up at Port Clinton City Hall, 1868 E. Perry Street, Port Clinton, Ohio (in person, no applications will be mailed) between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. Monday through Friday.  Applications will be available Monday, September 16, 2019 through Tuesday, October 15, 2019. Applications for entrance to this examination must be returned in person no later than 4:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 along with a non-refundable application fee of $35.00, payable by cash or money order only.

Salary:  The base salary range for 2019 for police officer is $38,937.60 – $56,804.80, annually and/or $44,116.80 – $56,804.80 for those experienced applicants fitting the criteria of new employees with five (5) years’ patrol experience with another law enforcement agency, who are certified through the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy and have had no break in service shall start at Step Two (2) of the classification they are employed in.  After completion of two (2) years’ employment, they shall advance to Step Three (3).  Patrol officers will advance to Step 4 after completion of three (3) years of employment.
